Those have a distinct profile: high hours relative to kilometres, load-related rear suspension wear, tow-bar and wiring condition, and interior wear that runs ahead of the odometer. We check the vehicle against its history rather than its presentation.
General Holmes Drive, Foreshore Road and the M5 approaches give sustained speed close by, which is what a road test needs to expose wheel balance, driveline vibration, torque-converter lock-up and brake shudder. Where the car is registered and insured and the seller consents, we use that rather than a loop of the local streets.
