Which inspection tier should I choose?

Essential ($199) is right for cars under 8 years old, under $20k, from a licensed dealer where you want a quick safety and OBD sanity check. Comprehensive ($329) is our most-booked tier — choose it for any private sale, any car over $20k, or anything over 8 years old. Elite ($449) is for cars above $30k, anything European/exotic, or any situation where you want a senior inspector to negotiate the price on your behalf face-to-face with the seller.

What is included in every Aussie Auto Care inspection?

Every tier includes a qualified mobile inspector on your driveway (or the seller's), a multi-point visual safety check, OBD-II diagnostic scan, 60+ HD photographs, a written PDF report (instant on-site for Comprehensive & Elite, same-day for Essential) and an inspector phone call to walk you through findings. Elite adds our repair cover on missed major faults — up to $3,000 for 30 days.

Do you charge extra for travel across Sydney?

No. All tiers are flat-fee, GST-included, with no travel surcharges across Greater Sydney from Penrith to Palm Beach to Cronulla. The Central Coast, Newcastle and Wollongong are covered at the same flat rate by request.

Can I add an EV battery health check to any tier?

Yes. EV / Hybrid battery State-of-Health certificate ($199) is an add-on to Essential and Comprehensive, and included free on Elite.

How quickly can you inspect?

Same-day if booked before 11am, otherwise next-day across Sydney metro. Weekend slots fill three to five days ahead — book early for Saturdays and Sundays.

What if I am buying interstate?

We cover NSW from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter, Wollongong and the Southern Highlands. For VIC, QLD or other states we partner with a vetted national inspector network — call us on 02 8320 1246 and we will coordinate the interstate booking on your behalf at the same flat NSW rates where possible.

Do you inspect at auction yards and used-car dealers?

Yes. Pickles, Grays, Manheim, Lloyds, Slattery and any NSW licensed dealer. Same package pricing as private-sale inspections — no auction surcharge.

Can the seller refuse a pre-purchase inspection?

Some private sellers do — and that is itself a red flag worth walking away over. A genuine seller of a genuine car has nothing to hide from an independent inspector. If a seller refuses, asks for cash before inspection, or insists on driving the car to a 'trusted mechanic' of their choice, treat that as a hard no and move on to the next car.

Can I be there during the inspection?

Absolutely — and we encourage it where practical. Buyers who attend get a live walk-around of every finding, can ask questions on the spot, and often pick up cues from the seller's body language that never make it into a written report. If you cannot attend, we send video clips of any moderate-or-worse finding and call you the moment the inspection ends.

Do you provide a written quote for repairs?

Yes. Comprehensive and Elite reports include an estimated repair cost beside each finding, drawn from our Sydney repair-rate library (parts + labour, GST-inclusive). These are estimates to support price negotiation, not a binding workshop quote — but they are within ±15% of real Sydney quotes in our experience.

What if the car fails the inspection — do I get a refund?

No, and you would not want a service that did. We charge for the work of inspecting, not the outcome. A 'fail' result is the most valuable outcome you can buy: it saved you from a bad car. The refund-on-fail model creates an incentive for inspectors to wave cars through, which is exactly what you do not want.

Are you NRMA approved?

We are independent and not affiliated with NRMA, RACV or any motoring club. Our inspectors are trade-qualified with full public liability cover in writing, we publish our methodology, and we share full photographic evidence on every report. Independence means our only loyalty is to the buyer paying us.

How is a pre-purchase inspection different from a rego safety check?

An eSafety inspection only confirms a car is legal to register — it is a 30-minute pass/fail check against the NSW minimum safety standard. A pre-purchase inspection is a 60–105 minute buyer-protection assessment covering mechanical condition, electrical health, accident history, paint, repair costs and market value. A car can pass an eSafety check and still be a terrible buy.

Do you inspect EVs, hybrids and Teslas?

Yes. Every tier covers EV-specific items — high-voltage isolation check, charge-port condition, regen brake behaviour, cabin and battery cooling. For a battery State-of-Health certificate (the single biggest value driver on a used EV) add the $199 EV Battery Test on Essential or Comprehensive — it is included free on Elite.

Do you inspect at night or after hours?

We work in daylight wherever possible — paint defects, fluid leaks, body-filler skim and tyre sidewall cracks are all easier to see under natural light, and our photos look the way they should. We will inspect under workshop lights when a seller's schedule demands it, but we prefer mornings and early afternoons across Sydney.

What payment methods do you accept and is there a callback fee?
