Kellyville Ridge was built in one go in the early 2000s, and its cars are now selling in one go too. The families who moved in bought their SUVs and people movers new a decade or more ago, and those vehicles are now reaching the market for the first time with 150,000 to 250,000 kilometres, a decade of school runs and M2 and M7 commuting behind them, and a first change of ownership ahead.
A first-resale family car from a long-term owner is often an excellent buy: one owner, full history, garaged. It is also a car at exactly the age where timing components, transmissions, suspension and cooling systems reach the end of their design life at the same time, and the seller has usually not priced that in.
We come to the car, complete a structured inspection, run a professional multi-module diagnostic scan, road test it including motorway speed, and hand you a written, photographed report on the spot with a plain verdict and costed repairs. We do not sell cars and the seller pays us nothing.

An estate's first generation of cars comes up for sale
Cars bought new between roughly 2008 and 2015 share a set of well-known weaknesses: early CVT and dual-clutch transmissions, direct-injection carbon build-up, timing chain tensioners, and plastic cooling components that fail on age. A ten-to-fifteen-year-old family SUV from this estate is very likely to be carrying at least one of them, and a long-term owner who has never had a problem is the last person to know.
Transmissions from the first CVT and dual-clutch generation
Many family vehicles of this era carry an early CVT or dual-clutch gearbox with a known weakness. We test for CVT shudder at light throttle, assess dual-clutch low-speed creep and judder, check fluid condition and colour, and scan for stored temperature, ratio and mechatronic faults, because a transmission replacement on one of these can exceed the car's value.
Timing chains, tensioners and belts at the end of their life
We listen for chain rattle on a genuine cold start, scan for cam and crank correlation faults, and check whether a belt-driven engine has had its belt replaced against both kilometres and years. On an interference engine this is the single most important check on the car.
Plastic cooling components failing on age
Radiator end tanks, thermostat housings, coolant reservoirs and water pump housings on this generation are largely plastic and crack with age and heat cycles. We pressure-test the cooling system, inspect every plastic component for crazing and weeping, verify both fan stages and check coolant condition and concentration.
Motorway wear from a decade of M2 and M7 commuting
Long steady commuting wears wheel bearings, tyres, suspension bushes, shock absorbers and driveline joints. We road test at motorway speed and check every bearing and joint for play, because these faults do not show at suburban speed.
Direct-injection carbon and short school runs
Engines that alternate short school runs with long commutes accumulate carbon on their intake valves. We look for the misfire counts and fuel-trim patterns in live data that reveal it before a warning light does.
Suspension and steering worn out under a family load
Seven people and a decade of speed humps flatten springs and wear bushes, ball joints and steering racks. We check ride height, bush and joint condition, shock performance and the tyre wear patterns that a tired suspension produces.
Driver-assistance systems on the first cars that had them
Reversing cameras, parking sensors and early collision-avoidance systems on these cars fail quietly. We test every camera and sensor, scan the modules for faults and check calibration where the vehicle supports it.
Worth arranging before we arrive in Kellyville Ridge
Ask whether the seller is the original owner and whether the service book is complete.
Ask whether the transmission has ever been serviced or repaired.
Ask whether the timing chain or belt has ever been replaced.
Ask whether any cooling system components have been replaced.
Ask for the car to be left cold overnight for our arrival.
Confirm both keys and the service book are with the car.
How it works
Booked, inspected, reported.
You don't need to be there and you don't need to move the car. Timing depends on inspector availability in your area and on when the seller can make the vehicle available — we confirm a time with you once we've spoken to them.
1
Book online or call us
Send the listing and the address of the car. Tell us if there is anything specific you want checked.
2
We arrange the time with the seller
We contact the seller or the dealership directly and lock in a time that suits both sides, based on inspector availability in your area. You don't need to be there.
3
The inspection happens at the car
A qualified mobile inspector attends the vehicle where it is and works through the full checklist, including a road test.

If we miss a major fault that was present at the time of inspection on an Elite Buyers' Protection inspection, we contribute up to $3,000 toward the repair within 30 days. Essential and Comprehensive do not include this cover.
A pre-purchase inspection in Kellyville Ridge removes most of the risk in a used-car purchase. It does not remove all of it, and you should know where the edges are before you book.
We do not dismantle the engine, remove the gearbox or pull interior trim, so faults only visible during disassembly can't be ruled out. On Comprehensive and Elite, the engine undertray is removed where fitted, safely accessible and permitted.
We work at the vehicle's location, not on a hoist. Underbody checks are done on portable ramps where safe and permitted; seized fasteners, unsafe access or seller refusal are recorded as inspection limitations.
A cold-start assessment is only possible if the seller leaves the engine untouched before we arrive. If the car has been warmed up, we record that in the report.
The road test runs on public roads at legal speeds, so it can't reproduce every intermittent fault or a fault that only appears under load or after long distances.
A PPSR check reports what is registered against the VIN on the day. It cannot show unreported damage or work done off the books.
The report describes the vehicle's condition on the day of inspection. It is not a warranty and not a valuation guarantee.
Questions
Kellyville Ridge buyers ask us this.
Yes. One-owner history tells you the car was serviced, not that its transmission, timing chain or cooling system has years left in it. At this age those are the faults that matter.
We test for the shudder and slip that precede failure and scan for the stored faults, and we report the transmission's condition plainly.
Yes. Bearing noise, vibration and tracking faults only appear at speed.
No. Flat fee, no travel surcharge.
No. We deal with the seller and send the report to you directly.
Cars, utes, vans and SUVs. Not trucks, motorcycles, caravans or boats.
Yes. Every defect is listed with an estimated cost to rectify, which is what makes it useful in a negotiation.
