Bonnyrigg is family-car country, and it is a suburb where cars are bought and sold through networks rather than showrooms. A cousin's people mover, a neighbour's seven-seater, a listing shared through a community group. The trust in those sales is real, but it is trust in the person, not in the car, and the person very often has no idea what is wrong with it.
Family vehicles here work hard. Multiple children, school runs, weekend markets, airport trips, and a lot of low-speed suburban running on Elizabeth Drive and the Cumberland Highway. Sliding doors, rear suspensions, transmissions and air conditioning systems all wear out early on a loaded people mover, and none of it shows in a listing photograph.
We come to the car, complete a structured inspection, run a professional multi-module diagnostic scan, road test it properly and hand you a written, photographed report on the spot with a plain verdict and costed repairs. We do not sell cars and the seller pays us nothing.

Local conditions
What we find on family vehicles around Bonnyrigg
Large, heavily loaded, low-speed family vehicles fail in a particular way. Rear suspensions sag, sliding-door mechanisms wear, transmissions run hot in traffic, and the whole vehicle is often maintained on the cheapest possible basis because the family budget goes elsewhere. Several owners in a short time is common. Sorting the genuine well-kept family car from the tired one is what the inspection is for.
Sliding doors, tailgates and seat mechanisms
People movers and large SUVs live or die on their hardware. We operate every sliding door through its full travel, test the power-close and child-lock functions, check the tailgate struts and latch, fold and slide every row of seats, and check the third-row seatbelts and anchor points, because a failed power door on some models is a four-figure repair.
Rear suspension worn out by permanent load
Seven people and a boot full of shopping, every day for years, flattens rear springs and kills shock absorbers and bushes. We check ride height side to side, bounce test the rear, inspect springs for sag and cracking, and look at the rear tyres for the inside-edge wear that a sagging rear end produces.
Transmissions cooked in suburban traffic
A loaded people mover in stop-start traffic on the Cumberland Highway puts more heat through its transmission than a car on the motorway. We check fluid condition and colour, feel for flare and delay, test for CVT shudder where relevant, and scan for stored temperature and slip faults.
Air conditioning that cannot cool three rows
Rear air conditioning is the first thing to fail on a big family car and the last thing anyone checks. We measure vent output front and rear, check compressor engagement and cycling, and inspect the condenser and both evaporator systems.
Multiple owners in a short time
When a car has changed hands several times through informal sales, the paperwork and the vehicle drift apart. We verify VIN and compliance plate against the car, check for money owing, compare the odometer against service records and interior wear, and confirm the seller is actually the registered owner.
Cheap panel repair on cars that get bumped
Big vehicles in tight car parks collect damage. We take paint-depth readings on every panel, look for overspray on rubbers and mismatched light date stamps, and inspect the rails behind the bumpers, because a filler-and-respray repair on a sliding-door pillar can leave the door misaligned for good.
Brakes and tyres on a heavy vehicle
A people mover carrying its full load needs its brakes more than a hatchback does. We measure pad and rotor thickness against the manufacturer's minimum, check for heat damage, assess brake fluid condition, and read every tyre's date code and tread across its full width.
Worth arranging before we arrive in Bonnyrigg
Ask how many owners the car has had and whether the seller is the registered owner.
Ask whether the sliding doors or tailgate have ever been repaired.
Ask whether the rear air conditioning works.
Ask for the service history and check the dates as well as the kilometres.
Ask whether there is money owing on the vehicle.
Ask for the car to be left cold for our arrival.
How it works
Booked, inspected, reported.
You don't need to be there and you don't need to move the car. Timing depends on inspector availability in your area and on when the seller can make the vehicle available — we confirm a time with you once we've spoken to them.
1
Book online or call us
Send the listing and the address of the car. Tell us if there is anything specific you want checked.
2
We arrange the time with the seller
We contact the seller or the dealership directly and lock in a time that suits both sides, based on inspector availability in your area. You don't need to be there.
3
The inspection happens at the car
A qualified mobile inspector attends the vehicle where it is and works through the full checklist, including a road test.

If we miss a major fault that was present at the time of inspection on an Elite Buyers' Protection inspection, we contribute up to $3,000 toward the repair within 30 days. Essential and Comprehensive do not include this cover.
A pre-purchase inspection in Bonnyrigg removes most of the risk in a used-car purchase. It does not remove all of it, and you should know where the edges are before you book.
We do not dismantle the engine, remove the gearbox or pull interior trim, so faults only visible during disassembly can't be ruled out. On Comprehensive and Elite, the engine undertray is removed where fitted, safely accessible and permitted.
We work at the vehicle's location, not on a hoist. Underbody checks are done on portable ramps where safe and permitted; seized fasteners, unsafe access or seller refusal are recorded as inspection limitations.
A cold-start assessment is only possible if the seller leaves the engine untouched before we arrive. If the car has been warmed up, we record that in the report.
The road test runs on public roads at legal speeds, so it can't reproduce every intermittent fault or a fault that only appears under load or after long distances.
A PPSR check reports what is registered against the VIN on the day. It cannot show unreported damage or work done off the books.
The report describes the vehicle's condition on the day of inspection. It is not a warranty and not a valuation guarantee.
