New-estate geometry is the defining factor here: small lots, short driveways, narrow carriageways and garages that are often full of everything except the car.
Estate lots typically give a single-width driveway a car length deep, on a street narrow enough that parking on both sides leaves one lane. We need door swing on both sides, jack clearance and stand-back distance to read a panel. In practice that often means working with the car half on the driveway and half on the verge apron, which we arrange with the seller in advance.
The M7 and M5 are both minutes away, so there is no excuse for a suburban-only road test here. Where the car is registered and insured and the seller consents, we take a motorway leg, because sustained high-speed running is what exposes wheel balance, driveline vibration, gearbox lock-up and steering pull.
Where a vehicle has a tow bar or a tray, we check what that duty has done: tow-bar mount and wiring condition, rear suspension ride height and bush wear, transmission fluid condition on an automatic, and diesel particulate filter regeneration data where the vehicle reports it. Those are measurements from the car, not statements about the suburb.
The station and its surrounding apartment blocks generate all-day parking demand and basement bays with controlled access. If the car being sold lives in one of those buildings, we arrange the access at booking and ask for it to be brought to open ground for the paint and underbody work.
