Engadine sits on the bush edge of the Shire, between the Princes Highway and the Royal National Park, and almost everything we are asked to inspect here is a private sale in a driveway. That is the easiest environment to inspect a car in properly — level ground, daylight, room to work — and we make full use of it.
Bushland on three sides, a highway spine down the middle and long sloping driveways off it. Each of those changes something about how the inspection is run.
Many Engadine blocks fall away from the street, and a car parked nose-down or nose-up misreads. Fluid drips run out of position, a handbrake test on a slope tells you less than one on the flat, and brake and tyre wear are hard to compare side to side. Where the driveway is steep we ask for the car to be moved onto level ground before we start the underbody and brake work.
Cars parked under the tree line for years collect leaf litter in the cowl, sunroof channels and door drains. Blocked drains are a real mechanism for damp carpets, musty smells and corroded floor pans, so we check the drain paths and lift the carpet edges rather than assessing the interior by eye. We also check for nesting debris in the engine bay on cars that have sat unused.
The Princes Highway and the F6 corridor are on the doorstep, and the run south gives sustained speed and a real climb. That combination loads the cooling system, exposes torque-converter lock-up behaviour and shows up wheel balance and driveline vibration in a way a 50 km/h back street never will.
Tow bars are common on Shire family vehicles, and a tow bar is a legitimate reason to look harder rather than a fault in itself. We check the mounting points and chassis rails around it, look at the wiring harness splice, and read the transmission and cooling data on the scan tool for signs of a drivetrain that has spent its life working hard.

Yes. Engadine 2233 is inside the standard Sydney service area, so the advertised price applies with no travel surcharge — $199 Essential, $329 Comprehensive or $449 Elite, plus $199 for the EV or hybrid battery health assessment. All prices include GST.
Not automatically — plenty of Shire cars tow a trailer a few times a year and are otherwise unstressed. What matters is evidence of load: we inspect the mounting points and surrounding chassis rails, check the wiring splice, and read transmission and coolant temperature behaviour on the scan tool. Anything we find is photographed and explained in the report.
Where the car is registered and insured and the seller consents, yes. A sustained highway leg is the single most informative part of a road test. If the seller will not allow a road test, we tell you that in the report instead of quietly skipping the section.
Yes. The EV and hybrid battery health assessment is a $199 add-on to any tier and is carried out at the car — we read the pack data directly rather than estimating from the dash range figure, and the result is reported as a state-of-health figure with the supporting data.
