Salt air, gradient and parking scarcity are the three local realities. The first changes what we look for, the second changes how we set the car up, and the third changes where the inspection can physically happen.

Salt air is a corrosion question, not a slogan

A car kept a few streets from the surf lives in constant salt-laden air. We do not claim that makes any particular car bad — we check the places it would show and photograph what we find: brake and fuel line runs, subframe and suspension mounting points, sill seams and jacking points, boot floor and spare-wheel well, door and tailgate bottoms, exhaust hangers, and corrosion or green residue at electrical connectors and earth points. Alloy wheels and brake hardware get the same look.

Steep, narrow streets and permit parking

The streets climbing to Ben Buckler are steep and heavily parked, and much of the kerbside is permit-only. A car on a slope will not present its ride height, its fluid levels or its leak path honestly, and a car boxed in kerbside cannot have its doors opened to the stop or be safely raised. We agree a workable position with the seller in advance — level ground with clear space either side — rather than hoping for one on the day.

Beachside interiors, soft trim and the electrics that follow

Cars used at the beach carry sand and moisture inside, and that ends up in the same places every time. We lift carpets and check the footwells and spare-wheel well for damp and staining, check seat rails and under-dash brackets for corrosion, test every window, mirror, seat and locking function, and scan all accessible control modules for stored and pending faults — because a corroded connector often shows up as an intermittent fault long before it becomes a warning light.

Straight answers

What a mobile inspection can't tell you.

A pre-purchase inspection in North Bondi removes most of the risk in a used-car purchase. It does not remove all of it, and you should know where the edges are before you book.

We do not dismantle the engine, remove the gearbox or pull interior trim, so faults only visible during disassembly can't be ruled out. On Comprehensive and Elite, the engine undertray is removed where fitted, safely accessible and permitted.
We work at the vehicle's location, not on a hoist. Underbody checks are done on portable ramps where safe and permitted; seized fasteners, unsafe access or seller refusal are recorded as inspection limitations.
A cold-start assessment is only possible if the seller leaves the engine untouched before we arrive. If the car has been warmed up, we record that in the report.
The road test runs on public roads at legal speeds, so it can't reproduce every intermittent fault or a fault that only appears under load or after long distances.
A PPSR check reports what is registered against the VIN on the day. It cannot show unreported damage or work done off the books.
The report describes the vehicle's condition on the day of inspection. It is not a warranty and not a valuation guarantee.
