Almost every constraint in 2077's Waitara half comes from built form: high-density residential parking, a highway on one side, a rail cutting on the other, and very little kerbside space to work in.

Secure basements, boom gates and resident lifts

The towers around Edgeworth David Avenue and the station park residents behind boom gates with resident-only lift access and low ceiling clearance. We confirm three things at booking: who will meet the inspector, whether there is visitor parking, and whether the seller will bring the car up to street level in daylight. That last point matters most — paint depth, panel alignment, glass and underbody condition cannot be read honestly under basement lighting, and there is rarely room to open a door fully.

The Pacific Highway is where the road test happens

Waitara's own streets are short, steep in places and heavily parked, which makes them a poor road test. The Pacific Highway and the M1 approach give us the sustained higher-speed leg where driveline vibration, torque-converter shudder, wheel imbalance, brake pulsation and steering pull actually show up. We take live scan-tool data through the shift range during that leg rather than only reading codes at idle.

Cars that commute over the ridge and down the hills

Vehicles kept in this part of the upper North Shore typically work in hilly terrain, which is harder on brakes, transmissions and cooling than flat suburban running. We measure rather than assume: brake friction material and disc condition where the tier and access allow, transmission behaviour and temperatures on live data, coolant condition and a pressure test, and a hard look at the engine and gearbox mounts.

Straight answers

What a mobile inspection can't tell you.

A pre-purchase inspection in Waitara removes most of the risk in a used-car purchase. It does not remove all of it, and you should know where the edges are before you book.

  • We do not dismantle the engine, remove the gearbox or pull interior trim, so faults only visible during disassembly can't be ruled out. On Comprehensive and Elite, the engine undertray is removed where fitted, safely accessible and permitted.
  • We work at the vehicle's location, not on a hoist. Underbody checks are done on portable ramps where safe and permitted; seized fasteners, unsafe access or seller refusal are recorded as inspection limitations.
  • A cold-start assessment is only possible if the seller leaves the engine untouched before we arrive. If the car has been warmed up, we record that in the report.
  • The road test runs on public roads at legal speeds, so it can't reproduce every intermittent fault or a fault that only appears under load or after long distances.
  • A PPSR check reports what is registered against the VIN on the day. It cannot show unreported damage or work done off the books.
  • The report describes the vehicle's condition on the day of inspection. It is not a warranty and not a valuation guarantee.
