North Sydney is a commercial core with residential towers wrapped around it, and that is exactly what makes inspecting a car here awkward: almost no kerb space, timed and metered parking on nearly every street, and cars that live three levels underground. Most streets around the business core are metered or signposted at one or two hours. A Comprehensive inspection with a road test does not fit comfortably inside a short ticket, so we agree a location with the seller in advance — an off-street bay, a building visitor space or a longer-stay street a few blocks out — rather than working against a parking officer.
Cars here often live on level B2 or B3 of a residential or office building. Scan-tool diagnostics, interior, electrical and fluid checks are unaffected by that. Paint-depth readings and underbody assessment are much better in daylight, so where the building allows it we ask for the car to be brought to street level or to the loading dock for that part of the inspection.
A car used mainly for a few kilometres at a time around the lower North Shore rarely reaches full operating temperature. We look for the consequences rather than assuming them: short-trip oil condition, battery state and charge behaviour, brake disc lipping and corrosion from light use, and diesel particulate filter regeneration history on the scan tool where the car is a diesel.
The Warringah Freeway and Pacific Highway are immediately adjacent, so the road test can include sustained speed instead of stop-start blocks. That matters for wheel balance, driveline vibration, steering pull and gearbox lock-up — all things that a crawl around Miller Street will never reveal.

Yes, and it is common here. The limitation is not access, it is light and clearance: paint work and the underbody cannot be read properly under a low fluorescent ceiling. Not by itself. Low kilometres accumulated in short city trips can be harder on a car than steady highway kilometres — the engine spends a lot of its life below operating temperature, the battery is chronically undercharged, and brakes corrode from light use. We assess the car's actual condition and its scan-tool history rather than treating the odometer as a verdict.
No. We arrange access with the seller, attend, inspect and send the report to you. Comprehensive and Elite reports are issued on site before the inspector leaves; Essential reports are delivered the same day, and you can call the inspector to walk through anything in them.
Yes. The inspection is the same. Where the seller is a company, the PPSR check included with Comprehensive and Elite is particularly worth having, because it shows whether a financier still holds a registered interest against the vehicle.
