Pre-purchase car inspection in Belmore.

Belmore is a compact, tightly built suburb on Canterbury Road between Campsie and Lakemba, with Belmore Sports Ground at its centre and the rail corridor running along its northern side. Nearly every sale here is private, and we come to the car rather than asking you to drive one you have not had checked.

Inspecting a car in Belmore, practically speaking

The 2192 job is about space and noise: narrow streets with heavy kerbside occupancy, a busy arterial in Canterbury Road, and a rail corridor that makes listening to an engine harder than you would expect.

Kerbside density is the main constraint

Much of Belmore's housing is semis, terraces and walk-up flats with limited off-street parking, so the car is often on the kerb with a vehicle close in front and behind. That directly limits three things: opening the doors far enough to check hinges, drop and seals; walking a paint gauge along the flanks at a consistent angle; and safely raising the car. We ask the seller to nominate a clearer position before the appointment, and where none exists the report says which checks were limited instead of pretending otherwise.

Canterbury Road wear is real, and it is measurable

Canterbury Road is one of the harder stop-start arterials in the inner south-west. Vehicles that commute on it accumulate wear in the brakes, the automatic transmission, the engine and gearbox mounts and the cooling system. Rather than guessing, we take live scan-tool data across the shift range, measure brake friction material and disc condition where the tier and access allow, and pressure-test the cooling system.

Background noise hides the sounds you are paying us to hear

Between the rail corridor and the arterial traffic, a lot of Belmore is genuinely noisy, and several of the most informative parts of an inspection are auditory: cold-start rattle, timing-chain noise, injector knock, bearing whine, exhaust leaks and suspension clunks. When the location is loud, the inspector will move the car to a quieter side street for the listening portion of the test. It is worth telling the seller in advance that this will happen.

Worth arranging before we arrive in Belmore

  • Ask the seller to leave a clear space in front of and behind the car so doors and access are not blocked.
  • Leave the engine cold. Cold-start behaviour is one of the highest-value minutes of the inspection.
  • Have the service book, spare key and registration papers available so identity and history can be checked against the vehicle.
How it works

Booked, inspected, reported.

You don't need to be there and you don't need to move the car. Timing depends on inspector availability in your area and on when the seller can make the vehicle available — we confirm a time with you once we've spoken to them.

  1. 1

    Book online or call us

Send the listing and the address of the car. Tell us if there is anything specific you want checked.

  2. 2

We arrange the time with the seller

We contact the seller or the dealership directly and lock in a time that suits both sides, based on inspector availability in your area. You don't need to be there.

  3. 3

The inspection happens at the car

A qualified mobile inspector attends the vehicle where it is and works through the full checklist, including a road test.

  4. 4

You get the report before you commit

Comprehensive and Elite reports are issued on site. Essential reports are delivered the same day. Every report ends with a plain-English recommendation and a phone call if you want to talk it through.

Straight answers

What a mobile inspection can't tell you.

A pre-purchase inspection in Belmore removes most of the risk in a used-car purchase. It does not remove all of it, and you should know where the edges are before you book.

  • We do not dismantle the engine, remove the gearbox or pull interior trim, so faults only visible during disassembly can't be ruled out. On Comprehensive and Elite, the engine undertray is removed where fitted, safely accessible and permitted.
  • We work at the vehicle's location, not on a hoist. Underbody checks are done on portable ramps where safe and permitted; seized fasteners, unsafe access or seller refusal are recorded as inspection limitations.
  • A cold-start assessment is only possible if the seller leaves the engine untouched before we arrive. If the car has been warmed up, we record that in the report.
  • The road test runs on public roads at legal speeds, so it can't reproduce every intermittent fault or a fault that only appears under load or after long distances.
  • A PPSR check reports what is registered against the VIN on the day. It cannot show unreported damage or work done off the books.
  • The report describes the vehicle's condition on the day of inspection. It is not a warranty and not a valuation guarantee.
Questions

Belmore buyers ask us this.

Yes, and that is how most Belmore inspections happen. We just need clear space in front and behind so the doors open fully and the inspector can work around and, where the tier allows, under the vehicle. Tell us at booking if parking is tight and we will arrange a workable position with the seller.
