NSW Compliance
Compliance plate
The manufacturer plate certifying a vehicle meets Australian Design Rules.
Found in the engine bay or door jamb, the compliance plate lists VIN, build date, GVM, kerb weight and tyre placard. For grey imports and modified vehicles, the absence or alteration of a compliance plate is a red flag. The compliance date (not build date) is what determines luxury car tax thresholds for imports.
