A car parked within a few streets of the ocean beach sits in salt spray, not just salt-laden air. On any older vehicle we go straight to where that does damage: door and tailgate drain paths, sill and wheel-arch seams, boot-lip undersides, brake and fuel line runs, subframe fasteners, alloy wheel and hub interfaces, and roof-rail mounting points.
The streets between the Corso, the ocean beach and the harbour side are narrow, largely one-way and almost entirely permit-parked. An inspection takes a solid block of time, so we plan where the inspector's vehicle can legally sit before arriving. If the seller has a permit bay, garage or visitor space, that is worth telling us at booking.
Most of 2095 parks underground or in small stacked bays. Scan-tool live data, fault codes, battery and charging, fluids, electrical function and interior all run normally down there. Paint reading and underbody sight-lines do not. Where the building allows it we bring the car up to daylight; where it does not, the report names which checks were limited.
Vehicles used for beach and surf trips carry sand and salt water into the cabin and boot, and it collects under carpets, in seat rails and in the spare-wheel well. That accelerates floor-pan corrosion out of sight. We lift carpet edges and the boot-well liner rather than assessing the interior from the seats, and photograph what is underneath.
